Time to bite the bullet

Well, I believe it's time to start blogging again. I have started medical school. What do I want to record/get out of this experience? A lot. So, probably the best way to do this and remember is to write things down. Who knows if I'll keep this up, but, it's a good thing to try I believe. Anyway, let's give it a shot.
Firstly, I have done my first rotation. Thoughts on this rotation are: a small lab can be fun, but slightly strange to work in , and I don't think I like doing a lot of mindless analysis work. Mindful work I enjoy, but clicking and dividing by 2 is not my idea of a fun time.
Secondly, medical school. Let's start with the classes. I have learned a lot in anatomy, some in the other classes. Anatomy is turning out more fun than I thought it would be. My tank mates are great, and one of them and I get along really well and he takes me home. So far, I have seen amazing patients with scoliosis, namely a woman who had a procedure when a child and one again as an adult, and a girl who was born without eight ribs, and with the addition of a rod in her back, was able to grow up as a normal child and even to beat other "normal" children in swimming competitions. That's pretty amazing, and really speaks to the power of medicine. The other clinical correlations I have seen have been cool, but not as meaningful, since they did not involve actual patients. This week, however, we have had two really crazy things happen...we have had two people faint. The first one happened on a clinical correlation on the eye, which I understand, since the eye is super gross. We saw a guy who had part of his face blown off, and then a hook in someone's eye, and a guy just fell over. Then on Wednesday, there was a girl in my room with me when we were learning about clinical stuff, and she was just standing right next to me, and then I thought she just sat down on the floor. Apparently she actually fainted, though, ostensibly because she didn't eat breakfast. Who knows. She was really skinny though.
Finally, Jasper. I love him to death. And Mason. What else is there to say. My doggie and boyfriend are perfect.
